Noir Jenny

Watch the video
...a quick short little clip, a snapshot if you will, moodier lighting than in previous tests, actually shot for use in a new banner, which is posted above but not the size it should be (working on issues), and also for a new avatar, cause (Dark)Strider's is just too cool...

I love the blinks! Those bulgy eyes are awesome. I like the way Jenny drifts up all wraithlike, but I think it would be more effective if there was a little movement... even if just a slight drifty feeling, just to make her seem... I don't want to say alive, but you know.... like she's drifty. Underwater-y or something. Or just maybe a little head move or something, and maybe it would work better if she just fades rather than drifting out again.

I don't mean to rip into your animation or anything, I really like what you've done, and I'm sure you understand.... just offering suggestions to help you push yourself and make it even better. I think you're really on to something with this, and I'm loving watching it come alive.

Oh, and I think I'm going to go with my OTHER siggy, which lacks a nifty animated icon, but links directly to my site. It's a tradeoff.

I know what you mean about Jenny's movement, I wish now that I HAD animated her a bit, but because I knew it was going to be for a small avatar gif (which I still need to do), I wasnt too concerned...I actually really liked the 'snapshot' idea, quick little 10 sec animations, and plan to do and post a bunch more hopefully later today, some other lighting tests, I want to try getting a reflective watery surface kind of lighting on the girls face...also realizing I never really posted anything about the girl puppet and her replacement eyes, so that'll be posted soon too...

...and please, rip away! :) Critiques make us all stronger artists, its one of the things I really miss about being in school, and one of the main reasons I decided to 'go public' with the Jenny flick!

Yeah, that''s what I love about this here blog brotherhood (and sisterhood! Hi Shelley!)... school is back in session baby! Feel free to critique any of my work as well... I look forward to it.

You know... it struck me once in Art History class that basically all the artists who "made it" were part of small, tightly-knit groups. I think the community spirit helps drive the individuals farther than they can go alone. By uniting like this, we become more than the sum of our parts.

Looking forward to seeing the tests!
