"Widow" - Tiny Tome

Tonight I sculpted the latex book cover, set out to do the 'sewn skin' thing, but as I slid the globs of latex around, a skull peeked out at me, so I went with it...I ended up with something much closer to the Evil Dead's Necronomicon, but thats cool...looks kinda like a woodcut too, with the horizontal lines...I may change up the paintjob a bit, gonna sleep on it...tomorrow and Thursday, page detailing, and then I'm set to shoot...I also spent some time tonight rounding up some appropriate royalty-free music and setting up the titles in Sony Vegas...

"SWALLOW YER SOUL!!!"

Dayum, that looks great! I was freaked out to see the face, because you said you weren't going that route. You might still consider (very lightly) running a lighter along the edges of the pages for even more weathering sweetness.

Thanks guys....Mike, I was actually considering dipping the book in tea or coffee, I've heard thats great for aging, but I dont want to end up with a buncha sticky warped pages....I might suck it up and try it anyway, I haven't attached the pages to the book yet....then again, fire is nice too.......and pretty...

Rockin' kool, J. It does look like an original Roche woodblock! FYI for another time, There's something great for aging called, Walnut ink, available in crystalline powder or mist bottle liquid forms. One can, of course, use paint or coffee washes but this stuff is pretty different and won't warp the paper. Available via craft or scrapbooking sites.

dang that looks good, you are the prop master!

maybe try some tea on a Q-tip and run it along the edges, so as not to soak the whole book.

Yeah, I wouldn't try tea or coffee or anything this close to deadline time, especially with the book already partially assembled. Could be a disaster. I think I'd try paint flicked from a toothbrush... a lot. And maybe just brush some right along the edges of the closed book (or a lighter) ;)
