Herbie Smokes

Today I toyed with my effects software, learned how to import an image sequence and key frame my smoke effects.....very pleased with the results......what you see here is, first, the raw footage, about 185 frames, 15fps, then the fx'd clip, set to a little Duke Ellington, 'cause it just felt right :)

Damn! Looks really good! You've got a really fantastic sense of atmosphere going on.

Leaps and bounds -- your work just keeps getting better!

Wowsers!!! Yeah, what he said, and then some!!!! My eyses is buggin out here! I love the smoke effects, and esepcially the little practical light yu cast on his chest just when he hit on the ciggy. Excellent little touch! Hmmmm - can't seem to get the clip to play again though. I do have one concern though, that I'll email you about privately.

Wowersers! Ubbie that looks so rad good! LOVE the blue cast of the light 'sphere too!

Umm, what effect software did you use?!

Sven, you asked about color on the other post. Sony Vegas has an effect called color corrector, which lets you shift the hue of the highlights, midtones, and shadows separately. That way i can keep the shadows black, and shift everything else toward the blue. Keeps it from looking too washed out.
Smoke fx were done in Particle Illusion, which I got for free with a software magazine. Excellent purchase :)

Ok, I found a way to play the clip back again - you just need to grab the playback head and slide it back to the beginning again. Maybe it's just a Firefox issue? (Yes, I recently made the switch from Safari - it's better in some ways, worse in others - a total tradeoff).
