Lieutenant of Inishmore

You may have noticed the lack of posts, updates, clips.....that's because filming on my little EC horror comic stop-mo short, "Only Skin Deep", has been put on hold, while I work on something much larger, a stage production of "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" by Martin McDonagh ("The Pillowman"). For the last couple of weeks, I've been working on some props and effects for the show, have about another week to go until opening night.
Produced by the Southern Rep Theatre, which is currently one of only a few places in the city up-and-running again after the storm. The larger theatres, like The Saenger (known for its Hogwartsy projected-sky-ceiling), are not rebuilt, probably not even gutted yet. The Southern Rep has teamed with a group of artists and actors from New York, a company called the Nola Project, who's goal is "to create a repertory theatre in New Orleans while developing ongoing theatrical relationships between New Orleans and the rest of the country. We also plan to create original works in New Orleans and tour them, bringing the experience to the world."

More power to 'em!

For Inishmore, I've created a couple of heads, using latex cast from alginate molds of the actors. I've made a mangled dead black cat, with a bit of brain that falls out. Several limbs, arms and legs, which can be sawed on stage, each night, as bodies are 'disposed of' :)

Here are a couple of pics.....

Marble Forest Iron Tree

Over the weekend I submitted four digitally manipulated photographs to be considered for the annual 'Save Our Cemeteries' juried exhibit here in NOLA. This one's my favorite of the bunch. Trees and moss were added using photoshop, original pic c.post Katrina 2005, from the Lafayette Cemetery, across from Commander's Palace (the finest eats in the city).
