Alley Alley

I cut the hole for the new hallway, or the alley alley as I call it, and started doin' up the walls and floor, started painting the set also....

Lovin' the color!

Mike was right -- the alley alley really does give the set some fab dimensionality.

Aw, man... You're giving me set envy, bro...

Are cobblestones really that colorful in NOLA?!!

Hey, one nice thing about that hallway - you can leave off the unseen wall and be able to animate somebody in there (like a crouching Herbie). And if you move the camera around to the other side, switch the wall around as well.
The stone texture looks really good on the side parts of the steps... is that open cell foam?

Thanks guys...Mike, the stoney parts are styrofoam, the kind made up of tiny balls of foam...I dragged my finger across it to loosen up the balls, pulled a couple of bits out, then coated the whole thing in a thin layer of rubber latex...

And no, our cobblestones aren't that purty....I may go over the whole floor with a light wash of orange, to unify it a little more....I'm waiting to see it under proper set lighting....

Great tip about the alley alley walls too.....Ive already attached the walls with hot glue tho, planning to animate from the top (removable ceiling)....
