In my last post I mentioned a new woodcut....here is the main plate (it will be "bookended" by two thinner plates of ghosts and wrought iron)....Carving the tiny detail in this plate is a real bitch, I have to say....Ive got blisters from the carving tools and a vibrating right hand from the Dremel....
Salvie likes it, though, and thats something (he's my toughest critic)!

Beautiful!
Yeah....
WOW!!!
At first I was wondering why the lettering was backwards --- thought you had made a basic boo-boo. Didn't realize this is the plate, that you'll be pulling reversed impressions from.
Very nice composition already! And the back cat compliments it beautifully. It's like Monster Month in June!
looks fantastic, uba! really nice.
Hey, I Just noticed a certain thematic unity in your recent pieces.... scroll down just slightly so you can see the top 2 posts, and you should see it right away.....(think large basic shapes)
I'm just sayin.....
Thanks folks....and Mike, good eye...I had already noticed it in the troll painting, the sort of embryonic nature of the troll/bridge....hadn't caught the curve in the woodcut though....and actually, lets take it a step further - Major set piece in Unearthed? A hill. :)
Dr. Freud sayz "Ze arch, ze hill, ze bridge, zese are all images zat echo ze belly of ze impregnated voman..."
Or were you thinking 'breast'? They are a bit nipply :)
Actually I just noticed the large curving forms... hadn't gone beyond that. Heh heh... yeah, paging Dr. Freud!
My earlier playful little analysis session aside, I think the main similarity here is due to N'Awlins architecture.
Oh....yeah...N'Awlins architecture, thats the link...heh heh....thats what I was thinking too...*ahem*
:)
